PUPIL VOICE: ‘Our new school values’

We value the contribution that all of our children make to life at Prescot Primary.

Here are some of their thoughts on our new School Values, shared during our whole school assembly.

P is for Positivity

“I have a go at anything!”

“My parents make me feel very positive.”

“When my friends are positive, it makes me feel positive.”

“I think the best of the worst situations.”

R is for Respect

“I respect the opinions and choices of others.”

“Respect in sport is very important.”

“Sometimes I don’t agree but I always respect.”

E is for Enjoyment

“I love dodgeball with Mrs Watts after school!”

“I really enjoyed the topic on ‘Mountains’.”

“I enjoy making people happy!”

S if for Support

“My parents give me lots of support with my school work.”

“I know that my teachers will always support me.”

C is for Confidence

“When my confidence is low, my friends believe in me and my confidence grows.”

“My confidence grew at PGL. I tried lots of new things and I had mixed feelings at first but I enjoyed the challenge!”

“Even though I was nervous, my confidence grew during the Swimming Gala.”

O is for Opportunity

“We all have the chance to stay active. There are a lot of sporting opportunities at our school.”

“I had the opportunity to be Green House Captain and I love it!”

“We have the opportunity to celebrate our successes in assembly.”

T is for Teamwork

“When we went to Athletics at Kirkby High School, we all put our hard work into it. Everyone tried their best and we did really well!”

“Every week, each House works really hard to win the most ‘House Potion’. We could win the chance to have a House Party!”

“It’s easier if you work in a team.”

Supporting our community

At Prescot CP, we aim to encourage our learners to understand and appreciate the world in which they live. As part of this, we welcome the opportunity to raise awareness about issues, promoting respect and understanding for individual differences.

So far this year we have supported some very worthy causes that have deepened understanding – and our children have had a lot of fun along the way too!

Dementia Awareness Day

We were visited by Deby and Sylvia from the Alzheimer’s Society. During assemblies, we had explored the concept of ‘Memory’ in terms of special memories, why we remember certain events and how to keep our memory active. Deby and Sylvia helped us to understand further the issues surrounding Dementia and how people can suffer.

During the day, our school community wore ‘Denim for Dementia’ and completed ‘Memory walks’ around the school field, holding a treasured item, photo or picture. It was a valuable time for reflection.

Y6 took part in workshops with Deby and Sylvia; they explored this devastating illness in more depth, becoming ‘Dementia Friends’ and earning themselves certificates and badges. We had some lovely comments from parents and carers who have experienced the effects of Dementia at home and felt that educating our children about it was a very positive step.

We also raised a lot of money! Thank you!
